1. Data.gov.uk

Uses Zoho Sheet’s

Online Viewer API to open public spreadsheet files on the browser.

The UK government had opened up its data for other people to re-use. This is only about non-personal, non-sensitive data – information like the list of schools, crime rates or the performance of your council.

Data.gov.uk is the first step in creating a network of re-useable government data. It is a key part of the UK Government’s work on Transparency which is being lead by the Transparency Board.

You will find over 5,400 public datasets about how governments spends money. Most of these are in the form of CSV and XLS files.…

KnowledgeTree Expands Zoho Integration

We reported about KnowledgeTree’s integration with Zoho last year. KnowledgeTree has further expanded this integration this week. From their blog post announcement:

Through integration with the Zoho collaboration and productivity suite, KnowledgeTree users can now create, share and edit cloud content in a multitude of file formats online. Rather than creating documents locally and then uploading them for collaboration, documents can now be “born in the cloud”.

In addition to common Microsoft Office document (.doc) and spreadsheet (.xls) file formats, you can create and edit rich text (.rtf) and text (.txt) files. Prefer the OpenOffice file formats? No problem, these are supported too.

You can now integrate with any Zoho services, third party applications, portals or websites. Your application can be in any of the programming languages like Java, Python, ASP, etc.

Some of the scenarios for which you can leverage Zoho Recruit’s API :

Integrate with your HR systems
Create candidate/client portals in your web-application
Publish job openings in any custom formats
Listing job openings based on industry, location, etc.
Categorize the job openings based on custom status

OOdesk and Zoho

OOdesk (pronounced as voo-desk) is a virtual desktop application offering free email, storage space, file sharing etc. OOdesk users can view and save documents, spreadsheets, presentations directly online without downloading. And this is done using Zoho’s Remote API.

Once you are logged to your OOdesk account, you will be presented with a virtual desktop environment (a desktop-like feel within your browser window). Double click on My Documents and click on the Upload option. You can upload any file from your desktop into OOdesk. Shown below is a Microsot Excel file opened within OOdesk using Zoho Sheet’s remote editor. You can view Microsoft Office or OpenOffice files, make changes and save them back to your OOdesk account.…
