Cut-Copy-Paste in Zoho Sheet

admin  April 12, 2006 06: 29 am    Comments (0)

Can you imagine an office application without cut-copy-paste? One like that could be treated half dumb becoz we understand how work actually is done behind the doors ;-). If you just can’t agree, try to guess the number of times you use the art of cut-copy-paste in your everyday work? It can sometimes run into 3 digits! To add more, Paste is the most used command in Microsoft Office. So we thought, this use-case cannot be different with users of an online office application like Zoho Sheet. With due respect to all our users and their feedback we have put in more effort to bring cut-copy-paste functionality to life. To make it more interesting and easy we have support for standard cut-copy-paste keyboard shortcuts.

Short-Cuts, a recap: Ctrl+X for Cut, Ctrl+C for Copy and Ctrl+V for Paste.

Now with Zoho Sheet you can Cut, Copy and Paste using the above shortcuts.

From External Souces:
Just cut/copy content from your Excel spreadsheet or an HTML Table in a webpage and paste it in your Zoho Sheet by selecting the start cell and hitting Ctrl+V.

Within Zoho Sheet:
Cut/Copy a selected a range/cell in the currently opened Zoho Sheet and paste it on to a different cell. If you are copying a formula cell with relative references, they would be automatically adjusted relatively when pasted onto a different cell.

From Zoho Sheet:
Data is always yours! Select a range/cell you want to cut/copy and paste it on to your external application.

Hope, Cut-Copy-Paste would make Zoho Sheet users more productive and happy.

Post Beta Update - III

admin  January 10, 2006 10: 25 am    Comments (0)

It’s time for yet another update.

There was this feature err, bug actually, which made a new blog entry whenever a document is modified & posted again. We now have the ‘Update Blog’ option which would just update the previous blog post. Also, say, if you have multiple blogs (Blogger, WordPress etc), there’s an easy snapshot which shows the status of your blog post - whether it’s current or needs an update.

This update introduces the Zoho Writer bookmarklet too. Just choose the text in the browser which you would want to post & click on the Zoho Writer bookmarklet. This would open up a pop-up with the text you’d chosen. Give a document name & click ‘Save Document’. You have a document made in your Zoho Writer account. Easy, right?

Watch for more.

Cheers!!

Post Beta Update - I

We had listed in an earlier post some of nagging issues that many of you had in our Beta. An update here:

# ‘Edit’ and ‘Preview’ screens show up in different font sizes - This has been corrected.
# Not able to easily visualize the document title as an editable field - We have now provided an image next to the document name. Just to make it more visible. Also a tooltip that says the document name is editable.
# The full screen mode isn’t lengthy ie., it doesn’t occupy the full screen area - we have worked on this and increased some space by removing the content links from the bottom row.
# ‘Find’ doesn’t work sometimes - Has issues with Firefox 1.5 since we don’t have the API in the browser. We are working on the alternatives.

Cheers!!

With a full day now gone since the Beta got out, its nice to see a very good response from you users. Many of you have pointed out issues & suggestions for improvements. Some of the most nagging ones listed below:

# ‘Edit’ and ‘Preview’ screens show up in different font sizes

# The ‘Save As Template’ link is more prominent than the ‘Save’ button

# Not able to easily visualize the document title as an editable field (just click over the doc name & you will be able to Edit it)

# The full screen mode isn’t lengthy ie., it doesn’t occupy the full screen area

# Adding a tag works only when clicking on the + sign

# Not able to easily delete an inserted table

# ‘Find’ doesn’t work sometimes

# Minor issues in Firefox 1.5

Thanks folks, all things are being ironed out & you will get to see continuous improvements in the coming days. Keep your suggestions coming in.

Zoho Writer Beta is Out

admin  December 21, 2005 04: 59 pm    Comments (0)

Hi Folks,

We take immense pleasure in announcing the launch of Zoho Writer Beta.

Thanks to all of you users who have been using the Alpha version & had given us valuable feedback. A lot of work has gone into this release’s making. The interface has been revamped completely with the aim to make Zoho Writer much more easy to use. Everything has been made just one click away including a single click toggle between full screen editing & inline editing. Lots of minor editor enhancements like find & replace, anchor support, additional fonts etc. have been added too for the Beta.

So what are you waiting for? Go, give Zoho Writer a try. And hey, remember to clear your browser cache before you take the Beta for the test drive.

Cheers!!
