Thanks for all your feedback

With a full day now gone since the Beta got out, its nice to see a very good response from you users. Many of you have pointed out issues & suggestions for improvements. Some of the most nagging ones listed below:

# ‘Edit’ and ‘Preview’ screens show up in different font sizes

# The ‘Save As Template’ link is more prominent than the ‘Save’ button

# Not able to easily visualize the document title as an editable field (just click over the doc name & you will be able to Edit it)

# The full screen mode isn’t lengthy ie., it doesn’t occupy the full screen area

# Adding a tag works only when clicking on the + sign

# Not able to easily delete an inserted table

# ‘Find’ doesn’t work sometimes

# Minor issues in Firefox 1.5

Thanks folks, all things are being ironed out & you will get to see continuous improvements in the coming days. Keep your suggestions coming in.

Cheers!!

Hi Folks,

We take immense pleasure in announcing the launch of Zoho Writer Beta.

Thanks to all of you users who have been using the Alpha version & had given us valuable feedback. A lot of work has gone into this release’s making. The interface has been revamped completely with the aim to make Zoho Writer much more easy to use. Everything has been made just one click away including a single click toggle between full screen editing & inline editing. Lots of minor editor enhancements like find & replace, anchor support, additional fonts etc. have been added too for the Beta.

So what are you waiting for? Go, give Zoho Writer a try. And hey, remember to clear your browser cache before you take the Beta for the test drive.

Cheers!!

Getting your things done with Zoho Planner

Zoho Planner can be seen in different ways – as an online ToDo list, a personal organizer, an online calendar for marking your appointments, your task manager, a friendly planner or whatever you look it as.

In addition to maintaining your ToDo lists, the latest update allows you to schedule appointments, has support for sending reminder mails for important tasks you would want to be reminded of & offers timezone support too. The last one comes particularly handy if you are a frequent flyer between timezones, allowing you to get your reminder emails correctly.

Zoho Planner is a tremendous asset for lawyers, doctors and other professionals who want to maintain their appointments with their clients. You can use it as your calendar for scheduling appointments. No software to install & it being accessible from a browser of any PC online, makes it even more powerful & flexible. Moreover, its free, shareable & very easy to use too.

Try the new Zoho Planner. Happy planning & organizing yourselves online.

Cheers,
The Zoho Planner Team

Update: Email docs, RSS feeds of public docs & more

Hi,

With today’s update, you can email the documents that you have created to multiple email IDs from within Zoho Writer itself. And there are options too to send them as HTML (here again there are the inline and as attachment options), doc or PDF (sxw, OpenOffice’s doc format got dropped the last minute due to a minor issue & Ranjith says it’ll be avl in the next update).

Separate RSS feeds are now available, one for all the public docs & the other for public docs of a particular user.

In bug fixes:

Issue with Spell Checker (the tool couldn’t check some docs before) has been fixed. When a doc is shared with a user who hasn’t got an account with Zoho Writer, it’ll always be Read Only (even when its given Write permission). This too has been fixed.

Happy collaboration online.

Two oft forgotten things

If you are like me, chances are you will forget these two things often – 1)passwords for the various online services you had signed up and 2)saving a file that you are working on. And these two things have now been taken care of in Zoho Writer. The latest update has the “Forgot your password?” link in the login page now which mails the forgotten password to your email account.

And, saving files – well, Zoho Writer has taken care of it nicely too. Your working file gets saved every 45 seconds, regardless of you saving it often while working on it (a best practice which you & I tend to forget). And here comes the beauty – even when you forget to save the file and close it, while logging back in, you will be shown the last two versions – the not saved version & the last saved version and you can choose to work on the version you like. Now, aint that lovely?

Look out for more.

Cheers!!
