Introducing Zoho Invoice for iPhone

If you are a Zoho Invoice user, we have some good news. Zoho Invoice application is now available on AppStore (iTunes link) for free.

The applications is rich in functionality. It includes 5 modules – Invoices, Estimates, Customers, Expenses & Items. In all these modules, you can create, edit or view your existing data within the iPhone app. Additional contextual actions are also available for each module.

If you are accessing Zoho Invoice from devices other than iPhone, a
mobile optimized version of Zoho Invoice is available @ mobile.zoho.com.

US Midterm Elections – Zoho in Action

Here’s something interesting we wanted to share – the little role
that Zoho played in the recently concluded US midterm elections.

Dan Centinello, a Campaign Manager, chose Zoho for live
analysis & reporting of data on the election day. He stored
over 4 million records (rows) of voters’ information in a Zoho Reports
table. And for editing of these records, a Zoho Creator app’s form
interface was used. The Zoho Creator app also had a mobile interface
form for entering data. The records were looked up (read) and edited
upon by around a hundred people simultaneously. The whole Zoho set up
served as the backbone for viewing in real time, the stats of all voters as they voted.

Says Dan,

The worrisome part about implementing such an unprecedented and
aggressive operation is that many things can go wrong unexpectedly. We
planned for the worst and made changes if something went wrong with the
other 11 elements of our operation; however, one facet that we knew we
had no room for error was on the technological side.

Introducing Zoho Docs for iPhone

We are excited to announce the launch of
Zoho Docs (iTunes link), a native application for iPhone and iPod Touch. This is the first native application from Zoho on a mobile device. It is currently available for free on the AppStore and runs on iPhone/iPod Touch.

The goal for the current version of the application is simple. We wanted to provide easy access to your Zoho documents from your mobile device. All files created, uploaded or shared in Zoho Writer, Sheet, Show or Docs can easily be accessed from this application. You can view documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images & PDFs with in the app.

The app also allows you to upload images from your mobile device to Zoho Docs. Built in search helps you find documents easily.

Subscribing to Zoho Calendar on iPhone/iPad

Earlier this month Zoho Calendar stepped out of Beta adding several new features including Calendar subscription. This means you can now view your calendar events in native clients.

We received several requests for viewing calendar events on iPhone. Zoho Calendar can be accessed through your mobile browser @ http://mobile.zoho.com (or m.zoho.com). But if you want to view your events on the native Calendar application, follow these instructions.

First, you need to enable Remote URL for the Calendar you want to access on you mobile device. To do this, go to your Calendar Settings > My Calendar, choose the Details option of the Calendar you want to view. Choose the ‘Sharing’ tab and check the option ’Enable private address for this calendar’.

Accessing Zoho Mail on iPhone/iPad through IMAP

You can access Zoho Mail on any mobile device from http://mobile.zoho.com, if you have a decent browser. But if you prefer using the local email client on your mobile device, you can fetch mails from Zoho Mail through POP or IMAP. We recently introduced IMAP support in Zoho Mail and today I want to expand on how to configure this on iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch.

Before you can configure your mobile email client, you first need to enable POP/IMAP access for your email account. To do this, go to Email Settings > Personalize > Email forwarding and POP/IMAP and enable either POP or IMAP. Here are the instructions for POP and IMAP.

Once you enable IMAP, you can now follow these instructions on your iPhone to receive/send emails.

Zoho, iPad and Usage Trends

We like the way Zoho is used on a weekly basis. The usage peaks during weekdays and fades down during the weekends. This obviously means, we have serious users using our apps for business, and given our entire focus on businesses, we like our usage trends.

On the other hand, I just noticed that the usage trends for iPad is almost the opposite. Usage is light during the weekdays and peaks during the weekends. Given that it is a consumer device, I guess this is normal. My own iPad usage confirms this behavior.

Given these opposite trends, I believe Zoho is not used on an iPad much. What do you think? How often do you use our apps on your iPad?…

Zoho Mobile Updated with Zoho Docs, new features

Zoho
Mobile, our web application optimized for smart phones has improved
since its launch with the addition of new apps, features etc. We just
rolled out another important update to Zoho Mobile with more goodies.
Here are the features in this update.

Sign-in with your Google, Google Apps or Yahoo! Accounts

When you visit http://mobile.zoho.com,
you’ll notice that you can now login to Zoho with your Google, Google
Apps and Yahoo! accounts, keeping it consistent with our regular web
applications.

Revamped Home Screen

Once you login, iPhone and Android users will
notice changes to the home screen. The idea behind this new design for
our mobile home page is to create space for additional applications. We
are committed to mobile and many of our apps will start to make their
way to our mobile app. You’ll notice some new elements like contextual
menus for each of the listed apps for quick navigation.
