Embed Zoho DB & Report’s Interactive Charts in your Blog/Website

We added a new feature to Zoho DB & Reports - Embedding Interactive Charts in your website/blog.

I am not sure about you, but I love the charts in Zoho DB & Reports. Its not just the ease of chart creation, but the ability to drill down to view the data behind the chart and the visual highlight on a mouse-over etc are very useful. These interactive charts can be viewed inside Zoho DB, but when you embed these charts in web pages, blogs etc, the interactivity is lost. Check out our Olympics Dashboard or iPhone Reports for example where the charts are not completely interactive.

Our recent update changes this. You can now embed Zoho DB & Report’s interactive charts in webpages, blogs etc. The commonwealth dashboard now shows the interactive charts in action. Here is an embedded interactive chart from our 2008 Olympics Database.

Tip: Move your mouse on the label on the right to see the highlight. Click on the data points to see underlying data.

Embedding an interactive chart is very easy. Select the chart you want to embed and select ‘Embed in Website/Blog’ option under the Publish option. In the dialog, the default option is ‘Embed as Interactive Chart’. Copy and Paste the given code in your website/blog and you’ll see an interactive chart like the one above. You can also let users change the type of chart embedded by enabling the Toolbar option in the embed dialog. If you enable this option, the same chart will look like this with options to change the chart type.

Tip: The chart icons on the Toolbar changes the chart type and the ‘Other Charts’ button has more Chart options.

We hope you’ll find this feature useful. Please share your feedback.

Your software is beautiful and also an inspiration to me. I am busy trying to port our application to the web and sell it as a service and can truly say that what you guys have done has blown my mind.

    Thanks

Its just this level of functionality that will make the Creator/DB & reports integration such a strong proposition. The dashboards that we can create for management…drool. The exposure of the meaning behind the data, knowing that the raw data is a click away….sweet!

    I for one cant wait.

Building a dashbord with several charts in Creator using DB & Reports is really great. But each chart is branded with “Powered by ZOHO DB & Reports” and there is no possibility to deactivate it. I have a dashboard with six charts and six times “Powered by ZOHO DB & Reports” :-(

    Tim,

I see this as well, in fact the branding is also evident on the Commonwealth Games demo link. I think its probably down to the fact that the integration isn’t complete and DB reports cannot resolve that your creator account is not the free version…

    any comments Zoho?

    Hi Tim and Mark,

We plan to provide options to remove the “Powered by Zoho DB & Reports” footer in the priced edition. We will also be addressing this issue in the next level of integration that we are working on with Zoho Creator.

    Thanks,
    Clarence

    Hi,

When the new integration is fully available will I be able Create new ‘Creator’ forms based on Tables/Views etc in ‘Reports’, or Vice Versa: Create tables in ‘Reports’ that match the tables in ‘Creator’?

I guess when you create an app/form in ‘Creator’ an option of storing the data in ‘Creator’ or ‘Reports’ is possible or no data retention for a stateless form?

I am curious, I have an app that is half developed in ‘Creator’ but would much rather finish it using the integration being developed that rework all I have done.

Also, is Q1 2009 the likely delivery timeframe for phase 1 integration to be available?

    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

We will be addressing the following use case as part of the next level tighter integration between Zoho Creator and Zoho Reports:

Users of Zoho Creator, will options to create reports using the Zoho Reports functionality. This option (tentatively named as “Reports”) would be available right within Zoho Creator. “Reports” feature would be available like the way you currently create Views in Creator. Users could create reports over their forms data using this functionality. The reports could also be organized as you organize your views today. Also it could be shared to users as you currently share any other views.

Once this integration is done, Users need not have to come to Zoho Reports, import the data from Creator, create reports and embed back into Creator.

Once the above is done, you could have the forms and data reside in Creator (need not be split between Zoho Reports and Creator), and at the same time have powerful reports created within Creator using the Zoho Reports features.

Our plan is to release the first update with this integration in 1Q 2009.

Hope I have answered your questions

    Thanks,
    Clarence
