iZoho – Zoho for iPhone

…or should I say ‘Office for your iPhone‘. This is fun project going live in record time (thanks to our APIs and of course our team).
iZoho (no, its not an online desktop :) ) is an easier way to access your Zoho Apps on your Mobile…atleast, iPhone for now. Sure, you can use Zoho Apps in their current form on your iPhone, but there is lot of stuff you don’t need on your mobile phone. So we simplified the interface and just provided simple features you’d normally use on a mobile phone.

We have three applications available currently in iZoho – Zoho Writer, Sheet and Show which lets you view your documents, spreadsheets and presentations in Zoho. Currently you can view and edit your documents, but you cannot edit your spreadsheets and presentations (you can only view them). You can also create new documents and view your presentations in landscape mode. There will be more features coming as we move along.
Frankly, we don’t know how this will work on iPhone as we haven’t tested it. It certainly works well on Safari so we hope it’ll be a non-issue. In any case, we will be fine tuning this over the next few days.

As I mentioned earlier, a device with a big screen, built in Wi-Fi, good usability and a full fledged browser will only improve the chances of practically using web apps on a mobile device.
Do give it a try and let us know what you think (support at zoho.com). Below are some screenshots.

      can we get a date of when the iPhone and Andorid app for zoho will be released?

      agree with previous post: offline editing would be a most. I would then move from google.doc to zoho in the minute.

      My company also would love to see a native iphone app. The mobile site does work well, however I would like to be able to access data offline when needed.

      I think a native iPhone app would be much better. Kudos for making a really great mobile web-app, but its limited by its connection. Salesforce’s app isn’t perfect, but its speed and native iPhone feel make it a BIG plus.

      @jbougher,

      We released Zoho CRM in our mobile site for access from iPhone, yesterday. More details here:

      i am also wondering about the iphone app?

      i am using zoho notebooks to pull together many ideas and needs for my new business. any time i see something we need, or an idea we might incorporate, i would like to put it into the notebook and share it with others involved. it seems as though izoho won’t let me do this with the notebooks.
      i really love the interface on zoho, but i need to be able to use my phone to access and contribute. am thinking of using Evernote simply because i have to have this function, but don’t want to.

      Hi Fiona,

      Sorry about this big delay in getting this up and running in our mobile site for iPhone access. We are in our testing phase. We’ll make this available in a few weeks time from now.

      Once again, apologies for the slip.

    17. I am also desperately waiting for Zoho iPhone. We are actually considering switching to Salesforce. Please. When is Zoho CRM for iPhone going to be available?

    18. Sathish Rajagopalan on said:

      Ryan,

      We are currently working to support Zoho CRM in both iPhone and Blackberry, For Blackberry, we are working on a native application and for the iPhone, Zoho CRM will be made available as part of our mobile website (http://mobile.zoho.com). We expect both to be available in a couple of months from now.

    19. I am really looking at SalesForce because they have an app already. I am just getting my new company going and will have several users and so need a sales crm tool that works on the road. Please let us know some kind of timeline for this – thanks

      I am really hoping to see an iphone app for Zoho CRM soon. I love the product, but this is the one thing that is missing. It would be great to be able to add a potential on the road and not have to come back to the office to do so.

      @Lee,

      Thanks for your interest in Zoho Mobile (for editing documents). It is going to take some time for us to make this feature available. We are still analyzing on the best possible way to address this requirement. Regrets to disappoint you at this point of time.

    24. any idea when editing documents will be available?

      Its the only part i need:)

    25. Mobile Zoho doesn’t seem to let me get back to full Zoho! Every time I go to full Zoho it redirects me to mobile Zoho on my iPhone, and I seem to be doomed now to never be able to get back to full Zoho.

    26. Sathish Rajagopalan on said:

      @scott,

      The iZoho service is currently a Web app and so is accessible through the iPhone browser (http://izoho.com or http://m.zoho.com). It has no price attached to it.

      @john

      Thanks for your appreciation. iPhone app for Zoho CRM is very much in our roadmap and will be in place but sorry that I can’t commit on a time line as of now.

      Hi Gyffes,

      Thanks for your kind words about of iZoho service. The problem with editing existing documents is that the current Editor is a Plain text editor and hence any formatting on the existing documents cannot be retained if edited through it. We are still looking at ways of supporting editing of existing documents through the iPhone and will surely come up with an acceptable solution soon. Will keep you posted as and when we make any progress.

      Sorry that I am not able to commit on a time line as of now.

    30. LOVELY product and your recent incredibly snappy and helpful response to my email cry for help was wonderful.

      UNFORTUNATELY, while I can view and create documents via the iPhone interface, I cannot edit them. This is a crying shame. I actually am crying. Although that’s because I just stubbed my toe. I am, however, deeply sorrowed by nonediting and wonder if you have an ETA as to when that might be available.

      Thank you and keep up the quality coding!

      Pierre : Thanks for trying Zoho Mobile and taking your time to write to us. We currently don’t support creation and editing of documents from the iPhone interface. We are however working on providing the ability to create new documents and the same should be available soon (only plain text editor though). Will keep you posted once it is out.

      Hello,

      I’m afraid i don’t manage to edit documents on my iPhone…
      I can’t even create any new document !
      Do i use the correct Zoho URL : izoho.com ?
      Each time i go to this address, i’m redirected to mobile.zoho.com
      so maybe this is the issue.

      Thanks in advance for helping me use what seems to be a wonderful feature.

    35. Sathish Rajagopalan on said:

      Hi Jin,

      Thanks for your comment. The iPhone interface of Writer is designed in such a way that the contents of documents are wrapped by default to fit into the viewport of the iPhone. If however, there are elements in the document that have a fixed width (eg. an image whose width is greater than 320 px), we display the content as is and hence it looks clipped. You can scroll through the clipped part of the document by using the two finger scroll gesture (ie. left to right and vice versa). Try out the same and let us know if you see any issues.

    36. Wonderful product! I’m testing it on my iPhone right now and there seems to be a reformatting problem. I opened up the Welcome document and it doesn’t seem to know the boundary limitations (pixel format?) of the iPhone’s display. I only see about 50% of the left portion of the document. I can’t pan the document to the left either. Let’s hope this gets fixed soon because I think Zoho can be the definitive iPhone office webapp! Thanks!
