Zoho Notebook Launches

Raju Vegesna  May 22, 2007 12: 20 am

We are happy to announce the public availability of Zoho Notebook - Beta. Existing Zoho users can login here with your Zoho ID.

As many of you know, we announced Notebook at DEMO 07 and got excellent response. While it took longer than expected to get the app out of the door, we are happy with the product functionality today.

I am not going to talk about the functionalities of the application in this post as the short video below will give you a good idea. But if you need further information, I added it here, well, in a Notebook.

We really hope you enjoy using the application and I am looking forward to hear your feedback on this.

[…] Zoho Notebook just launched today, and I have been tinkering with it this morning. The goal of the notebook is to bring all of your information together into one single source. You’ll no longer have Post-It notes spread out all over your desk, and important information from websites can easily be clipped and stored in Zoho Notebook. […]

How does one save a notebook? There’s no clear option for that. The save button only gives the option to save a page–and in any case, it doesn’t work. If I log out and back in, even after saving, I have no notebooks or pages.

  9. May 22nd, 2007 | 2:07 pm

Amy, the save button saves the page. The notebook is automatically saved when you save a page or navigate between pages.

All saved notebooks will be listed under ‘My Books’ section. Check the sidebar for yhe notebooks you already created. When you login, we open a blank notebook by default.

Do get back to us support@zohonotebook.com if you still face issues.

Weird–now it seems to be saving without any trouble…

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Zoho products are excellent but after seeing the original Notebook demo, way back when, I wondered how much of the “prototype” would actually make it to production. (You know how all those cool cars at the auto shows NEVER show up on the streets!) You have outdone yourselves with another great product. It’s also obvious that public, industry and media attention for Zoho is growing fast. I wish you all the best for great success. Just let me know when the IPO will be!

Notebook looks great. Is there a Search feature to find text in my notebook(s)?

  14. May 22nd, 2007 | 3:40 pm

[…] At the end of January, I wrote about Zoho Notebook, the latest addition to the company’s stable of web-based applications. At the time, I was very impressed with the concept and initial execution and today, Zoho has made Notebook publicly available as a beta. If you use a product like Circus Ponies Notebook on the Mac or Microsoft OneNote on Windows, you’ll immediately grasp the general idea but Notebook, as I wrote in my original post, has internet-native capabilities that exceed what these fat client apps can do on the desktop. Zoho’s Raju Vegesna has put together a video introduction that highlights some of the capabilities engineered into Notebook and talks bout the release on the Zoho blog. […]

[…] All the blogs today were raving about the new Zoho Notebook applicaion from SAS provider Zoho. They have lots and lots of collaborative apps and the notebook one looks particularly cool. I’m very interested in using these types of apps inside of the school environment, but the problem is that each student needs to have an externally accessible email address for registration of the services. We still haven’t gotten to that point yet and I’m not sure that we will in the near-term. I wish you could buy your own server and run the apps in your local environment instead of over the Internet. […] At the end of January, we reported on a new “preview product” called Zoho Notebook. Well tonight it has launched as a beta product. In the office software space nowadays, comparisons must be made not only to the equivalent Microsoft Office product - but also the equivalent Google Web Office product. Not forgetting of course the many smaller vendors of Web Office. In any case, when it came out in preview Zoho Notebook was immediately compared to Microsoft’s OneNote application and Google Notebook. My own conclusion when trying out the product back then was that Zoho Notebook offered different things than Microsoft OneNote and more things than Google Notebook. […]

    This is fantastic!

I have been waiting for this as a way of tying the documents for various different projects into bundles.

First tests show that it does exactly what I hoped for. The freeform approach is wonderful (and wonderfully implemented too!).

    Many thanks.

What is next for Zoho? I would love to see them integrate with a video search engine like VeZoom.
It would be a powerful addition.
