There's a reason behind every product update, whether it's based on user requests, keeping up with competition, or moving upmarket. As we developed our most recent features, the Zoho Mail team heavily considered customer preferences and worked to understand what would improve their overall emailing experience. This helped us discover different user wants and needs, the obstacles they face, and the increased awareness around secure data sharing.
We set out to enhance Zoho Mail based on customer feedback, and after months of consistent effort, we have revamped the interface and built features for heightened accessibility and security. We'd like to give you a glimpse into what we've rolled out so far, and what to expect in the coming days!
Sign up for Zoho Mail, if you haven't tried us yet. Here's what you can try right now when you log in to Zoho Mail:
Greater inclusivity through heightened accessibility
As a first step towards making the Zoho Mail interface easy to navigate for all our users, we have improved the overall color contrast and sharpness of our interface so that different elements on the screen are well distinguished. Zoho Mail has also introduced basic screen reader support for visually challenged users who prefer having the screen text read to them. While this is just a start, the team is continually working toward complete WCAG compliance.
A fully RTL interface for our global users
Zoho Mail supports more than 60 languages, and our users have expressed the convenience of having an email service that can be set to their preferred language. For users with language preferences that are written from right to left, it's important that the entire interface aligns with this orientation. Zoho Mail's newest update now renders the user interface with all the menus right-aligned for a true RTL experience.
Improved night mode that's easy on the eyes
If you're someone who normally works post sunset, a darker interface can reduce eye strain considerably. This is why we wanted to perfect Zoho Mail's night mode. We've removed inconsistencies and color inversion that was hurting readability. You will now be able to see differences in how email content looks, both in the preview screen and the compose editor. If you want to change modes temporarily, Zoho Mail's quick toggle tool helps you switch between day and night mode just for the current email or draft you are viewing.
Revamped design for quick and smooth navigation
We've elevated our interface design to make the platform more efficient. We made our menus cleaner, organized icons and email options for quicker access, displayed keyboard shortcuts for common actions, balanced out the editor fields for improved writing space, and so much more.
There's more in store for the coming days. Here's a sneak peek:
Smart system sync for a uniform experience
If you prefer not to manually switch between day and night modes in your mailbox, you can choose to sync Zoho Mail settings with your system-wide preferences. For example, if your operating system is set to dark mode, Zoho Mail will switch to night mode. Enjoy a uniform experience across your machine and your email application.
Confidential email for added security and shareable email links
Once you send an email, you have little control over who it's forwarded to or shared with. Zoho Mail has developed SecurePass Email, a feature that helps you add an additional layer of security to emails that contain sensitive information. Protect your data with a passphrase, add forward and print restrictions, and set an expiration date.
On the other hand, you may receive emails with valuable information that you'd like to share internally or outside your organization. You can do so by generating a permalink with additional conditions, like an expiration date and access control.
If you're interested in learning more about each of these features, keep watching this space in the coming weeks! We hope this new and improved version of Zoho Mail delivers an even better experience to our diverse, international user base. Thank you for inspiring us to keep building an inclusive product.
